Your location determines what plants might be around you. Knowing a variety of different species in a variety of areas ensures your best outcome of someone needs medical assistance.

not.
Yes, different plants bloom in different seasons so knowing when certain things bloom in corspodance with your trip to an area helps when in critical conditions.

o As a scientist, why would it be significant to develop a relationship with local peoples about their
plant habitat?

Local people know there surrounding better than a person who's unfamiliar to the area and developing a relationship could further expand ones knowledge of the plants in that area.

o If you were found without traditional medicines, would you trust your (or a reference texts)
knowledge of local flora to treat illness.

Yes and no if I was 100% sure of the plant type that could help with my particular situation. Some plants tend to look similar so if I was certain of the plants and its uses than I would use it.
